PhD defence - Stojan Arnerstål

On Friday, April 25, at 10.00 in the University Main Building in Uppsala, IMC researcher Stojan Arnerstål defended his doctoral thesis “Trade Marks as Objects of Contractual Arrangements”

The dissertation examines the function of trade marks as objects of contractual arrangements. Hence, the subject lies at the intersection of trade mark law and contract law. The overall aim of the thesis is to study which impact a trade mark as such – with its characteristics and meaning – has for the obligations arising out of a contractual relationship. The study focuses on three types of contracts, namely contracts for the sale of trade marks, licenses and co-existence agreements. These contracts are discussed from different perspectives, especially in relation to breach of contract and termination.
